Southern Heartland Harmony Concert

Join us for a special performance by Southern Heartland Harmony!

Enjoy an evening of nostalgic tunes, featuring classic light rock and soulful country favorites from the 1960s through the mid-1970s.

This trio is comprised of Rickey Hall, Mike Mills, and Worley Max McKinney who've found a grand rhythm playing together, specializing in harmony. Over the last year, they've performed in Lynnville, Chapel Hill, Booneshill area, and now--for the first time--in Fayetteville,TN. 

Rickey Hall:  I started singing with my Dad when I was around six years old and his bluegrass group. I played with him for probably about ten years covering artists like Bill Monroe and Flat and Struggs. When I became a teenager I worked my way into some light rock and roll, and later on became a leader of a rock and roll band in the early seventies covering groups like the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Oak Arkansas and Dr.Hook. I played this genre of music until I was probably up into the early 1980's timeline then joined a group called Dixieland Express a mixture of 80 country and current rock and roll songs.Then I got married and started a family and started drifting more into Contemporary Christian music where I led music groups for churches for 20 years. That's where I am today mixed with meeting with some different fellow musicians out there and playing all types of music that I'm accustomed to playing all my life. I always enjoyed singing harmony with different people and that's why I'm with these guys of Southern Heartland Harmony to get a chance to expand my harmony exercises going forward. 

Worley Max McKinney: I was born in the Frankewing/Beech Hill of Giles County and remember loving music from early childhood. My first teaching job was at Elora School in Lincoln County. I moved to Knoxville and continued to teach while getting involved in the music scene there, singing and writing songs. The Songwriting led me to Nashville where I enjoyed some success, getting songs recorded by such artists as Conway Twitty, Don Gibson, Moe Bandy, and Hillary Scott among others. Since moving back to the Frankewing area, I've continued to play music in venues around the area individually and with local bands Highway 64 and Southern Crossroads. Presently, I'm playing in the group with Rick Hall and Mike Mills, and looking forward to the upcoming performance in Fayetteville. 

Mike Mills: Like most, my earliest memories of singing were at  church. My grandfather gave me my first harmonica when I was 5 or 6. Since then I have played music with some of the greats...Charlie McCoy (my favorite), along with many other stars! While they were on a record player or on the radio, I still enjoyed playing with them!!! As an adult I was a member of several groups that played music in  southern Middle Tennessee and north Alabama. I was also the song starter - I couldn't lead anyone - at my church for several years. Even today, I usually play weekly with a group of musicians and singers that I've known for years.

Requested donation is $7 per person.
