IAC Volunteer

Target Start Date: 8/28/25 · Application Deadline: August 30, 2025

Volunteers are the "host" of our Independent Art Classroom during OPEN hours!

What is IAC?

Our IAC program was launched 4 years ago with support of a grant to offer free art-making opportunities to families in our community. These 5 independently led art stations ranged from Beginner, to Intermediate, to Advanced - offering creative stimulation, artistic expression, and presenting a challenge to all ages and skillsets. It's a great way for families and friends to add art and bonding to their dynamic!

We've modified the program a bit since its launch. Now featured:

·         3 Art-making stations (prompts rotate regularly)

·         1 Tactile Station (hands-on activity: pearler beads, jewelry making, junk stuff art, playdough, a board game, etc.)

·         1 Sketch & Stream Station for Guided Art Creations (we have a mounted TV to view 13 education art videos that meet the TN standard and offer art lessons over the year of seasons and more.)

·         STEM Bags (offering specialized sensory activities for those on the Autism spectrum.)

What we need now:

Volunteers to work (we'll pass around a signup calendar for folks to pick a day)

A schedule for IAC to be open - based on when volunteers can commit on a month-to-month basis. (Example: every 1st Thursday, every 2nd and 4th Saturday, etc.)

Note: Our ideal time frame during the week would be 2:00-5:30 (or 6pm) and 9am-12pm on Saturdays (twice a month.)

APPLICATIONS: We will be sharing an application link in advance of the meeting, to ensure we vet each volunteer properly and get to know you a bit - so please RSVP to get this App!

We are looking for folks who

  • will interact with patrons and assist in art-making while being a good steward of the Arts Center's material.
  • can select supplies to accompany each activity prompt.
  • will be mindful of the creative classroom environment, making it warm and inviting to all.
  • will take care of the space, tidying and cleaning according to a checklist.
  • are able to climb stairs without issue. (Unfortunately the classroom is not handicap accessible.)

We hope that you will consider the impact you can make in the community and what joy you can get from this experience - and join us!!! Please reach out if you have any questions before the meeting! You can contact Jen at [email protected] or text/call 931-652-2391
